Devotion May 10th

WEDNESDAY May 10th

Psalm 139:1- 6

‘O Lord, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.’

We ended the devotion yesterday with a verse from Psalm 139 and I have commenced from the same Psalm today, following on from my thoughts yesterday. I want to continue to assure us that whatever our circumstances may be we can confidently trust in the faithfulness of God. We can say as Horatio Stafford said in his well known hymn ‘It is well with my soul.’

We can also know with confidence that we can put our trust in the one who holds the future. A couple of weeks ago on a Sunday evening, Iain shared from John 14:6 that Jesus is the way and of the importance of walking in the way. Afterward, I mentioned a time when I needed reassurance to know that a big decision, which involved a big move for us as a family was the right choice for us to be making and God gave me a verse from Exodus 33:14 ‘And he said, ‘my presence will go with you, and I will give you rest’.

Isn’t God good, he not only speaks to us but he always goes with us.

In our Psalm today the psalmist says ‘you search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways’.

There is NOT A SLIGHT MOMENT in our lives that God does not know about, nor care about, he is as Psalm 139:17 says thinking about US ALL THE TIME!

So today, cast all your care, all your anxiety, all your worry, all your fretting, all your struggling and everything else you are battling with upon him, for he cares about you. (1Peter 5:7)
